HMS Family Update | November 2–6, 2026
Halloween Safety | October 31
Wishing our families a safe and fun Halloween! Remind children to stay with their group, use sidewalks and crosswalks, and make sure costumes allow them to see and move safely. Reflective details and flashlights can help trick-or-treaters stay visible. Please check treats before children enjoy them.

Halloween Candy Donations | Happy Birthday Project
Have extra Halloween candy at home? Families are invited to send in donations of individually wrapped, unopened candy for the Happy Birthday Project. This is a wonderful opportunity to share a little sweetness with others and encourage our students to show care for the community. Please send donations to school with your child by November 6. Thank you for your generosity.
Invite | Remembrance Day Assembly | November 10, 2026
Families are welcome to join us for our Remembrance Day Assembly on Tuesday, November 10 at 10:15 a.m. Doors will open at 10:00 a.m. so everyone can be seated and we can begin promptly at 10:15 a.m.
Led by our Grade 5/6 students, the assembly will bring our school community together to reflect on peace and honour those who have served and sacrificed.
All students will be given a poppy. Families who wish to contribute to the Poppy Fund are welcome to send a donation to school with their child. Donations are voluntary, and every student will receive a poppy.
Student Clubs | Tuesdays in November
Clubs are starting again! Students will participate in clubs on Tuesdays throughout November, with opportunities to explore interests, try something new and connect with students across our school. We look forward to another month of learning and building connections together.
Reminder | Haultain Memorial Apparel Store
Show your HMS spirit! Our online apparel store is open for families to browse and order customized school clothing.
Organized by the Haultain Memorial Parents Association, this ongoing, year-round fundraiser supports activities and enhancements for our students. Thank you for supporting our school community.
Attendance | Every Day Matters
Regular attendance helps children build confidence as learners, strengthen friendships and feel connected to their school community. Being at school consistently also helps students build foundational literacy and mathematics skills and stay engaged in learning.
Ways to support regular attendance:
- Show interest in your child’s day and celebrate their efforts and successes.
- Establish consistent routines for bedtime, breakfast and getting ready for school.
- Whenever possible, schedule appointments outside school hours or on days off.
- Encourage daily attendance when your child is well enough to participate.
- Listen if your child seems worried about school, frequently feels unwell or finds learning difficult, and connect with us for support.
If getting to school is becoming challenging, please reach out to your child’s teacher or the school office. We want to understand what is getting in the way and work with your family to help. No concern is too small—we are here to support you.
