AMA School Safety Patrols

We are proud to recognize our AMA School Safety Patrols for their dedication and leadership in keeping our school community safe. Each day, our patrols provide an important before-and after-school service, helping students cross safely at the intersection of Queensland Drive and Queensland Circle.

Patrolling is an important responsibility, and we depend on our Grade 5 and 6 students as leaders. With training and support from AMA, our patrols learn the skills they need to carry out their duties confidently, under adult supervision. Beyond keeping our crosswalks safe, patrols model responsibility, teamwork and care for others.

While the role is serious, patrollers also enjoy the experience and pride that comes with serving the school. Each year, AMA celebrates their efforts with a special Patrol Picnic to recognize their hard work.

Patrollers are asked to report to the patrol station by the office five minutes before their shift begins. For safety, patrols are not on duty when the temperature is below -20°C or during severe weather conditions (heavy rain, icy roads, or high air quality health index). At these times, students are encouraged to take extra care when crossing the street.

Our AMA School Safety Patrols truly embody the spirit of student leadership—caring for themselves, each other and our community.
