First Day Information

Teachers emailed families on Wednesday, August 26 to welcome students to their class. If you did not receive this email and do not know who your child’s teacher is, please check your junk/spam folder. If it is not there, please call or pop into the office before school starts on Monday. Teachers and admin will be outside at 8:40 AM to welcome students before the bell rings. For students who are unsure where to go on the first day, they can ask for help from anyone wearing a bright safety vest and we will support them. You can see more information on our Back to School page.

Kindergarten Staggered Entry

On Monday, Kindergarten students have a staggered entry, meaning they only come to school during an assigned time (see below).

  • Group A – Last Name A-J – 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM
  • Group B – Last Name K-Z- 10:15 AM – 11:15 AM

Kindergarten Kiss ‘N Cry

Tuesday is the first regular day for kindergarten students. All students will come from 8:58 – 11:46 AM. We know that handing your precious little ones over to the care of their teacher can be emotional for some kindergarten parents. We also know that for those who are new to the school it is nice to meet the parents of their children’s classmates. Our wonderful School Council will be hosting a Kiss ‘N Cry gathering on Tuesday right after the bell at the picnic tables beside the new playground. We hope to see you there!

Fees

Once school fees have been uploaded by the CBE, they will appear on your myCBE Account. Generally, these fees are uploaded in late September or early October. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the school office.

Supplies

Students will need to bring a pair of indoor shoes, a nut free snack and a backpack to school. Students who are part of the lunch program will also need to bring a healthy lunch. All other consumable supplies (pencils, workbooks, crayons, etc.) are supplied by the school.

Lunchroom

All students may stay at school over the lunch break to eat their lunch and have an active living break. Once the system has been updated, you will be able to register and pay for the lunchroom program via your myCBE Account.

Please note, we are operating under the assumption that all students will be staying for lunch. If your child will be going home for lunch, please let the school know so we do not include them on our lunchroom attendance lists.

Student & Family Supports

We know that every family’s circumstances are different, and we want to make sure our students have what they need to feel supported and ready to learn. A variety of community supports are available through our school, including food programs, school backpacks and supplies, winter boots, and warm clothing through organizations such as Brown Bagging 4 Calgary Kids, EducationMatters, Boots for Kids, and Jacket Racket. If your family would benefit from any of these supports, please complete our Family Support Request Form and we will connect with you confidentially to discuss what may be available.
