Principal Update

We hope you all had a wonderful summer and were able to find time to connect with family and friends.

The staff at Haultain Memorial have been working collaboratively, setting the stage for what will be another amazing opening to the school year. We are all looking forward to seeing our students back in the school and hearing all about the fun times everyone had the last 2 months.

We know the amount of information at the start of the year can feel overwhelming. However, we are asking that you please read all of the information we are sending. We don’t want you to miss important details.

It is our intent to publish weekly communication for families in a similar format to what you see here. It will have dates you need to know about for the week ahead, a few of the important upcoming dates in our calendar, often a brief reflection from myself and key news items you need to know about.

We are looking forward to seeing our students back on August 31.

Sincerely,
Melanie Young
Principal

First Day Information

Next week you will receive an email from your child’s teacher, welcoming you to their classroom and explaining where students are to meet on the first day. If you have not received an email from your child’s teacher by 3:00 PM on Monday, August 28, please contact the school. For students who are unsure where to go, they can ask for help from anyone wearing a bright safety vest and we will support them.

Kindergarten Staggered Entry

On Thursday, August 31, 2023 Kindergarten students have a staggered entry, meaning they only come to school once, during an assigned time (see below).

  • Group A – Last Name A-J - 8:20 am - 9:40 am
  • Group B – Last Name K-Z- 9:50 am – 11:10 am
  • No School for Kindergarten on Friday, September 1, 2023

Fees

Once school fees have been uploaded by the CBE, they will appear on your MyCBE account. Generally these fees are uploaded in late September early October. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the school office.

Supplies

Students will need to bring a pair of indoor shoes, a peanut free snack and a backpack to school. Students who are part of the lunch program will also need to bring a healthy lunch. All other consumable supplies (pencils, workbooks, crayons, etc.) are supplied by the school.

Lunchroom

All students may stay at school over the lunch break to eat their lunch and have an active living break. Once the system has been updated, you will be able to register and pay for the lunchroom program via your MyCBE account.

Please note, we are operating under the assumption that all students will be staying for lunch. If your child will be going home for lunch, please let the school know so we do not include them on our lunchroom attendance lists.
