Playground Blessing
This week, we had the honor of welcoming Knowledge Keeper Hal Eagletail to bless our new playground. As a sign of respect and gratitude for his teachings, we presented him with tobacco before he began.
Hal emphasized the significance of the land and reminded us to be mindful of our space and each other. He encouraged us to be cautious, kind, and respectful while using the playground. He said our playground is the perfect place for students to release energy before returning to the classroom to be ready for learning.
His wisdom and guidance mean a great deal to us, and we are committed to honoring his teachings and the traditions they represent.

Orange Shirt Day
Orange Shirt Day, observed on September 30th, is a day to recognize and raise awareness about the impact of residential schools on Indigenous communities in Canada. It serves as a reminder of the children who were taken from their families and the lasting effects of the residential school system. Wearing an orange shirt symbolizes the loss of culture, identity, and family experienced by many Indigenous children. As we observe this day, we encourage families to engage in conversations about reconciliation, respect, and the importance of learning from our shared history.
We invite all of our families to wear an orange shirt on Thursday, September 26th, in recognition of Orange Shirt Day. This is one meaningful way for students to honor and raise awareness about the impact of residential schools on Indigenous communities and engage in this important work.
