Principal Update
This will be our final HMS Family Update until the current ATA labour action is resolved. Please note that teachers will not be sending updates this week, and, during the strike, teachers (myself included) will not have access to email and will be unable to respond to messages. Here is what this means for CBE families:
- All classes will be cancelled. Do not send your child to school.
- Transportation will be cancelled. Do not leave your child at a bus stop.

Thank You for Supporting Our Terry Fox Run
A huge thank you to our school community for making this year’s Terry Fox Run such a success. We are so grateful to the volunteers who helped organize and support the event, and to all the families who generously contributed donations. This truly is a whole community event in Queensland and our hearts were happy to see so many community members cheering us along the way! Together, we are honouring Terry’s legacy and supporting cancer research in a meaningful way.
Online Demographic Forms
Thank you to all of our families who have logged into their MyCBE Account to update your child’s demographic forms for the 2025-2026 school year. Reviewing and completing your demographic forms ensures your child is properly registered for this school year and gives us the most up to date information possible, should we need to contact you. The official deadline for the completion of these forms has now passed. If you have not yet done this verification, we would appreciate taking the time to complete them as soon as possible.
Student Health Plans
Student Health Plan – A reminder that this form must be completed if medication is to be taken at school or if your child has a condition which may impact their attendance at school. This form must be updated on an annual basis. Please note, the school is able to oversee a student taking their medication but we are unable to directly administer the medication ourselves.
Student Health Emergency Response Protocol Form – This form is only required if your child has a known and significant condition which may require the school to provide immediate emergency intervention. This form must also be updated on an annual basis.
Please note, for most of our students, these forms are not required. These forms are only applicable to students who meet the criteria noted above. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our school office.
Eye See…Eye Learn – Free Eye Exams for Kindergarten Students
Good vision is so important for learning! Through Alberta’s Eye See…Eye Learn program, all kindergarten students can get a free eye exam — and if they need glasses, those are free too.
It’s an easy way to make sure your child is seeing their best as they start school. Learn more and find a participating optometrist at optometrists.ab.ca/esel.
Big Box of Card Fundraiser
The HMS Parents Association is thrilled to kick off a new fundraiser at our school — The Big Box of Cards! This campaign is a fun and simple way to support our school, and each box offers great value your family and friends will love.
Card boxes sell for $35 and the Candles box $40:

Our campaign will run from September 26, 2025 to October 17, 2025. There are product video links at the end of this page (right click on the link to open) and an order form will be going home with students (or you can download the form by clicking the link on the right sidebar on our Fundraisers Page). These videos are perfect to share with friends, coworkers, and extended family to help boost your sales!
All orders and payments should be submitted on or before October 17, 2025. Please make cheques payable to Haultain Memorial School Parents Association. If you wish to pay by e-transfer please send to jpidlubny@parentsofhaultain.com. Note - If you are sending an e-transfer, in the notes, please indicate your child's name and the product(s) you ordered. On the Order Form indicate that you paid by e-transfer.
