Fourth Annual Pumpkinella Showcase
Our Student Leadership Club is excited to welcome families to contribute to this year’s Pumpkinella Showcase on Friday, October 31. All HMS students and families are invited to bring a carved or decorated pumpkin to display in the Learning Commons.
Pumpkins may be created in one of the following categories: book characters, animals, cartoons, famous people, sports, or original creations. Please keep designs fun rather than frightening, and avoid excessive blood, gore, or violent imagery. Real candles are not permitted.
Pumpkin drop-off will take place from 8:45 to 9:00 a.m. in the Learning Commons. Please label each pumpkin with the student or family name. Student leaders will assist with setup.
Classes will visit the Pumpkin Patch throughout the day, and all pumpkins will be sent home at the end of the day to enjoy Halloween evening. We look forward to seeing your creative designs.
Halloween Costumes
HMS students are invited to dress up in costumes on Friday, October 31.
Please keep the following guidelines in mind:
• Costumes should be easy to put on and remove if needed
• Students must be able to move comfortably for PE and recess
• Costumes should not include items that could pose a safety risk on the playground (for example, scarves or long, dangling pieces)
• Avoid scary or gory costumes out of respect for our younger learners
• Accessories are discouraged, as they can be easily lost
• No masks please. Simple face paint is a great alternative
In short, simple costumes work best.
Although Halloween treats are always appreciated, we ask that families refrain from sending food due to the variety of allergies and sensitivities in our school community.
We look forward to seeing the creative costumes of our HMS students on Halloween.
Candy Wanted | Student Leadership Charity Drive
The Student Leadership Club will be organizing a Candy Drive for a charity called The Happy Birthday Project. This is a local charity that works to provide all the supplies necessary to bring joy to the lives of children and families facing adverse circumstances through the celebration of birthdays, holidays, and other special life events.
Haultain Memorial School will be collecting candy to donate to this worthy cause. Please note that candy should not contain Halloween images or shapes and must be wrapped in original packaging. Candy donations can be brought to the office between November 3 through November 7. Thank you on behalf of the Student Leadership Club!
