School Council

Please join us in the Learning Commons on Monday, October 16 at 6:30, for our upcoming HMS School Council Meeting. Immediately following the Parent Council Meeting, you can be a part of helping to plan how to raise and allocate funds for items such as a new playground, school enhancement and family events at the Parent Association Meeting.

You can find more information and a link to the meeting (if you choose to join online) on the School Council page of our website.

You can keep up to date by following the Parents of Haultain | Facebook Page.

Clubs

We are excited to share that students will have the opportunity to participate in whole school clubs again this year! As part of our learning, clubs will be held during school hours in 45-minute blocks. Students will explore various activities including coding, photography, choir and acts of service in the community. During club time, students in Grades 1 to Grade 6 will be reassigned to a teacher in the school where they will engage in learning on a topic of interest (Kindergarten students will participate in the second round of clubs). This whole school community building event was designed by staff to strengthen relationships and increase students’ sense of belonging at school. Our first club day is Tuesday, October 17, 2023. Students are invited to wear their HMS t-shirt, or any blue shirt, to show their school spirit.

Correction | Movie Night

As a reminder, there was a mistake on the HMS School Council Movie Night flyer (paper copy) that was sent home last week with students.

The flyer stated there would be a supervised preschool room (under 4yrs) available. Unfortunately, this service will not be offered and therefore families will need to ensure all children stay with them and are supervised directly by parents/guardians.

Good Neighbours Coffee and Community Connections Drop-In

Thank you to Tim Hortons at 15425 Bannister Road for their generous donation of coffee and steeped tea! Thank you as well to those who joined us for our first get together. It was lovely to chat with and get to know some of our families better. We plan to host another drop-in  sometime in early December. If you have any gently used clothing items, we would welcome them in the office anytime, or you can save them and bring them with you when you join us for our next Good Neighbours Coffee and Community Connections Drop-In!

Save the Date | Drumming Evening Performance

During the last week of October students will be participating in a drumming residency with One World Drum Co. As a celebration of our learning there will be an evening performance on Thursday, October 26 at 6 pm. The performance will be about an hour long and all students in Kindergarten to Grade 6 will be performing. More details will be shared soon.
