November School Conferences | Teacher Led

Our next round of School Conferences is coming up soon. Conference Booking Opens on November 20 and you can sign up through your MyCBE account. School Conferences provide time for families to discuss their child’s progress and achievement in relation to the intended learning goals. This is also a time for teachers to share evidence of individual student progress and achievement. These conferences are one of the formal reporting opportunities the CBE has structured to ensure families understand their child’s achievement over the course of the reporting period. The next formal reporting opportunity will be through report cards in January.

First GSA Club Meeting

On December 4, 2024, HMS will be hosting our first Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) Club for students. We know there may be some questions around this, so we have provided a short Q&A below to give you some more information.

Q - What is a GSA?

A - Gay-Straight Alliances (GSAs) are student clubs made up of students with diverse sexual orientations and/or gender identities as well as allies (e.g., cisgender, heterosexual students). There are also teachers who serve as advisors.

Q - What is the purpose of a GSA?

A - The purpose of GSAs is to provide much needed spaces in which 2SLGBTQ+ students and allies have a safe place to meet and connect. These groups also work together to make their schools more welcoming for students with diverse sexual orientations and/or gender identities.

Q - Who is the club for?

A - The clubs is open to all students to foster a sense of belonging and respect for diversity.

Q - What will happen during the first GSA meeting?

A - Students will be creating club norms, sharing ways to create a sense of community and belonging, and deciding on a name for the club.

Future GSA Club Meetings will be on the first Wednesday of every month.
