Next Year Planning

We are beginning the early stages of planning for the next school year. Having accurate enrolment projections helps us to plan effectively, preventing the need to realign how many classrooms we have in September. If you know that your child will not be attending our school in 2025-26 please let us know, as soon as possible, by emailing haultainmemorial@cbe.ab.ca.

Grade 6 students will automatically be enrolled at Wilma Hansen School. If your child will be remaining with us for the upcoming school year, there is no action you need to take. They will automatically be enrolled into their next grade.

Reminder | HMSPA Spring Market | May 3, 2025 | 10:00 – 3:00

Get ready for a fantastic day at the Parents Association–sponsored Spring Market! With over 30 amazing vendors, you're sure to find something special — from unique crafts to tasty treats.

Try your luck in our raffle with tons of great prizes donated by our vendors, including a free one-year membership to Crunch Fitness! Plus, don’t miss out on Growing Smiles plants for sale — perfect for spring planting.

Proudly sponsored by Queensland Barbers, this event not only brings our community together but also gives back. Proceeds from vendor table sales go directly to supporting our school, helping reduce or eliminate costs for field trips, classroom enhancements, and more.

Come shop, support, and celebrate with us — we can’t wait to see you there.

Honouring the Earth: Lessons from Hal Eagletail

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Knowledge Keeper Hal Eagletail for sharing his wisdom and teachings with our school community this week. His insights on care and consideration for the land, plants, and animals have deeply enriched our understanding and appreciation of the natural world. Through his stories and guidance, we were reminded of the importance of respect, responsibility, and harmony with all living things. We are grateful for the opportunity to learn from his knowledge and carry these teachings forward.

Mental Health Awareness Week – May 5–11

Mental Health Awareness week is happening May 5 – 11. This year’s theme, “Unmasking Mental Health,” invites us to imagine what it would feel like to speak openly about our struggles without fear or shame. Many young people hide their emotions behind a mask to protect themselves from judgment.

The Community Education Services team in partnership with Recovery Alberta has nine sessions throughout the month of May to highlight and help provide more information for educators, and caregivers on various topics related to mental health awareness. To see all the sessions offered, dates and times please click here.

Hats on For Mental Health – May 7

Every year Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) dedicates a week in May to raise awareness of Mental Health. This year Mental Health Week will run May 5-11, and Hats On! for Mental Health Day will take place on May 7.

Albertans are invited to wear a hat to raise awareness of the importance of good mental health. Participating schools will encourage students and teachers to build understanding by wearing hats to school. Students will also participate in lessons on understanding mental health and the importance of removing the stigma associated with mental illnesses.

Reminder | Test Alert on Wednesday, May 7, 2025

On Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at 1:55 p.m., the National Public Alerting System will send a test alert across Alberta to all broadcast platforms.

During the test, an alert will sound, followed by a text message letting cellphone users know the sound is part of a test and there is no need for concern.

Rotary Club Bike Tune Up | May 13, 2025

Mark your calendars! On Tuesday, May 13, 2025, the Rotary Club will be hosting a Bike Tune-Up event right here at school. This exciting initiative will take place during morning school hours in the school gym.

Students are encouraged to bring their bikes in for a free check-up and basic maintenance. Rotary Club volunteers will be on hand to ensure bikes are safe and ready to ride just in time for spring weather and Bike to School Week (June 2-6, 2025).

This is a great opportunity for students to learn about bike safety, maintenance, and healthy transportation habits—all while keeping their wheels in top shape. Don’t miss it!

Kindergarten Orientation Invitation

We are excited to welcome families of next years' kindergarteners to our upcoming Kindergarten Orientation, which will take place in two parts:

Part 1: Parent Information Night
Wednesday, May 22
6:00 – 7:00 PM
This session is designed for parents only. Join us for a one-hour presentation to learn more about our kindergarten program. Please note that there will be no activities for children during this evening.

Part 2: Step Into Kindergarten | Discovery Visit

Friday, May 30 (Morning)
Parents will bring their child to the school at their designated time for a fun and welcoming visit with our kindergarten teachers (approximately 45 minutes). While students explore their new learning environment, parents are invited to relax and enjoy coffee in the staffroom.

If your child's last name starts with A-J, please bring your child to school on May 30, 2025 at 8:30 am.

If your child's last name starts with K-Z, please bring your child to school on May 30, 2025 at 9:30 am.

Please sign in at the office and there will be someone to greet you and direct you to the kindergarten room for drop off, and to show you where the staffroom is for coffee and visiting.

We look forward to meeting you and your future kindergartener!
