Winter Walk Day | February 4, 2026

Haultain Memorial School is pleased to be taking part in Winter Walk Day again this year. Throughout the week, our Student Leadership Club will be encouraging all students to bundle up, get active, and walk to school whenever they can. Walking, even for just a few minutes, helps build healthy habits, strengthens our connection to the land, and adds a little extra energy to the school day. Thank you for supporting your child in joining us for this fun, active community event.

Bridge Club Update

We are excited to share that the Calgary Bridge Foundation for Youth (CBFY) will be running an afterschool program at our school on Wednesdays from 3:30 – 5:30 pm. The afterschool program, Bridge Club, is open to all HMS students in Grades 1-6 and is being offered for FREE! The club will focus on belonging, confidence and community. Students will play fun games, make crafts and meet new friends. Bridge Club will begin on Wednesday, January 28. Use this registration link to learn more and to register your child for Bridge Club.

Calgary’s go-to family resource is now available! The YYC Families 2026 guide from Calgary’s Child is packed with helpful information for parents, including community resources, family-friendly events, and practical tips for navigating life in our city. It also features their Summer Camp & Program Directory, a great tool for planning engaging summer opportunities for your child. A wonderful one-stop resource for Calgary families!

Reminder | Survey

School Council is exploring the possibility of offering child safety courses at our school for students 10 years of age and up, and we’re looking to gauge interest before moving forward.

We are considering:

  • Home Alone Safety Course
  • Babysitting Course with First Aid

This short (less than 1 minute) poll will help us determine:

  • Whether to run one or both courses
  • Best timing
  • Potential cost coverage from Parent Council

This poll is for planning purposes only and does not commit you to registering.

If there is enough interest, we will follow up with dates, pricing, and registration details.

For example, when registering for the 2026-27 school year, the child must turn five on or before Dec. 31, 2026. Families can find information on kindergarten registration on the public CBE website.
