Bell Let’s Talk Day

Bell Let’s Talk Day is coming up on January 25. We are joining in and committing to take meaningful action to create positive change.

Here at Haultain Memorial School, we are helping to support positive change by intentionally planning developmentally appropriate lessons about well-being, positive relationships, and self-regulation by connecting to the outcomes in the new Alberta Education curriculum.

Again this year, the Bell Let’s Talk Day campaign highlights ways we can all create meaningful CHANGE and take action by doing one or more of the following:

  • Choose a mental health organization to learn about or support
  • Help a friend struggling with their mental health by learning how to support them
  • Ask about how your school, workplace or community is creating change for mental health
  • Nurture your own well-being by practicing and learning mental health strategies
  • Get involved in a mental health initiative or organize an event to support mental health
  • Engage in conversations about mental health to fight stigma

Share your actions using #BellLetsTalk and help inspire others to join the movement to create positive change.

We are proud to come together, take action, and help create change for mental health in Canada so that Canadians can access the mental health and addiction supports they need to flourish.

You can find resources, learn more about some of the organizations providing mental health supports and services throughout Canada and download the Bell Let’s Talk toolkit to begin your own conversation about mental health and create positive change at home, school or in the workplace.

Please join us this Bell Let’s Talk Day by showing your support for all those who live with mental illness and those taking action to help them.

Community Connections – Families Matter Program Registration

Families Matter is an organization that supports the development of healthy and resilient families in Calgary. They have several upcoming Parent Classes and Parent/Child Classes on their website. These programs are all offered free of charge, but require that you register, and spots do fill up quickly. You’ll find opportunities to connect with other families and learn research-based parenting strategies to support the whole family. Many of the sessions are offered online and in-person here in the deep southeast. Take a moment to check out what they have to offer!

Adolescent Brain Development | Family & Caregiver Well-Being Session

As part of a continued effort to support the well-being of students, CBE is committed to sharing valuable information about child and youth well-being with families and caregivers.

Date: Thursday, January 18
Time: 6:30 – 8:00 PM

This is the second (of five) sessions available for families and caregivers, this time focusing on 'brain development in adolescence'.

Teen brains are amazing, but working with brains under construction comes with challenges. How do you nurture and appreciate this time? Adolescence is known across cultures as a tough time for both teens and adults who support them.  Adults and teens can work together to form a deeper understanding of what is happening in the brain creating a deeper understanding of one another. Come learn with us! Use this Meeting Link to join.
