School Council/Parent Association Meetings | December 11, 2023
Our next HMS School Council Meeting is approaching. Please join us in the Learning Commons on Monday, December 11 at 6:30. If you are a parent/guardian of a Haultain Memorial student, you are welcome and encouraged to join us. Immediately following the School Council Meeting, you can be a part of helping to plan how to raise and allocate funds for items such as a new playground, school enhancement and family events, at the Parent Association Meeting
You can find more information and a link to the meeting (if you choose to join online) on the School Council page of our website. You can keep up to date by following the Parents of Haultain | Facebook Page.
In Search Of | TV
Our School is looking for a TV to use at the entrance of our school as a display monitor. We are hoping for a donation of an unwanted TV that has Bluetooth/casting capabilities. This would allow us to cast student artwork and messages onto the screen in the front entrance to the school. It must be a flat-screen and must fit into a case that is 30 inches x 44 inches. If you are planning to replace one of your old TVs and think you may have what we are looking for please call the office or email Mrs. Young, mayoung@cbe.ab.ca.
Cereal Box Domino Challenge | Mayors Annual Christmas Food Drive
The grade 5/6 classes are encouraging HMS families to donate to the Mayor’s Annual Christmas Food Drive in a creative way this year. They will be setting up a giant domino run using all the cereal boxes donated by December 20. Throughout the month, students will ideate, test their design, make adjustments and re-test the domino run. The grand finale domino run will be set up for the school to watch. The 5/6 students will be promoting a friendly competition between classes to see who can collect the most cereal boxes. The prize for the winning classroom will be a classroom Minecraft party.

Community Centre Ice Rink
Our friends at the Queensland Community Association have asked us to remind families that they are in the process of flooding both ice rinks at this time. It is a slow process that takes may floods to create a smooth surface for skating on. As tempting as it may be to walk across it right now, and crunch through the thin layers of ice, the result is an uneven skating surface that will delay the opening if the rink. If your children are playing at the park after school hours, please remind them to be mindful of staying off the ice.
